Mr. Austin lived at 518 Eager St. and had been a Belding resident for the past 42 years. He was born in White Oak township, Ingham county, June 27, 1887 and was a WWI veteran and was employed as a shipping clerk at the Johnson Foundry before retirement. In 1924, he was married to the former Gertrude Crankshaw who survives. Other survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Joy) McRoberts, Belding; one sister, Mrs. William Halliday, Laingsburg; four brothers, Charles of Laingsburg, Irving of Rodney, Martin of Durand, James of Laingsburg; six grandchildren. Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Huffman Funeral Home with Elder Varian Bauman of the Greenville Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Burial was in River Ridge cemetery.
