Velma Austin, aged 92, of Saranac, passed away May 16, 2007. She was born 
August 29, 1914 in Boston Township, the daughter of Henry and Irene (Rowland) 
Tapley.  She married George (Dutch) Austin who preceded her in death in March 
of 1963.

Velma is survived by her daughter-in-law Gloria Austin of Saranac; 
grandchildren Jim and Pam Jones of Turk Lake, Vickie and Kevin McGraw of 
Saranac, Mike and Laurie Jones of Belding, Mitch and Sue Jones of Clarksville, 
Karen Johnson of Lowell, Diane and Scott Lippert of Stanton, and Joe and Amy 
Champnoise of Saranac, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great-great 
grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her brother Keith Tapley, her son 
Don and daughter Arlene Scofield.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac 
with Pastor John William officiating. Anyone wishing to make memorial 
contributions to the Saranac Library.
