Avery, 330 Bliss street. Her death followed a hemorrhage from the lungs with which she was stricken early in the morning. Miss Avery was feeling in her usual health the evening before and had been out to supper at the home of friends. She was in her place, as usual Sunday at the Presbyterian church where she had been the organist for a number of years. Miss Avery had for a number of years past made a gallant and brave fight against the inroads of tuberculosis with which she had been attacked. Her valiant effort to retain her health had apparently been rewarded by success in some degree at least and she was about to continue her work and to be an inspiration to her many friends. Her death was unexpected. She has been a resident of Ionia all her life, well known to a large circle of friends, a musician of ability, beginning her work many years ago when as a child she played the organ and piano in the lower grades of the city schools. She leaves her mother, Mrs. Jennie Avery, and a brother, James Avery, of New York, who is expected here on Thursday. Funeral announcement later. Subsequent Publication: Friday, February 20, 1920 The funeral for Miss Leah Avery will be held at the home on 330 Bliss street, Saturday afternoon at two o’clock. Rev. R. E. Meader assisted by Rev. M. L. Marshall will take charge of the services. The interment will be in Highland Park.
