He and his parents came to America in 1851, locating in the state of New York.His father died a few weeks after their arrival. In 1854 he was married to Miss Hattie Catt. Eight children were born to this union, seven survive him. He moved with his family to Sebewa, Mich.. In the spring of 1866 purchasing the farm on which he resided until his death, which occurred Feb.25th,1905. In 1869 Mr and Mrs. Aves united with the Baptist church of Sebewa, and remained members until death called them to the church of the Redeemed above. Mrs.Aves died Nov. 21st 1876 leaving Mr.Aves with the seven surviving children, and his aged mother. His mother passed away some years ago. He leaves to mourn his departure, five sons, two daughters, a number of grandchildren and a host of friends. The funeral services were held in the Sebewa Baptist church, Rev. H. Renshaw of Alto, a former pastor, officiating, who paid an excellent tribute to the manly character of the deceased. The remains were interred in the Baptist cemetery,Feb. 28, in the presence of a large number of admiring friends and neighbors. Oh, for a touch of the vanished band, and a sound of the voice that is stilled.
