Ayers, 87, lifetime resident of Ionia county, died Tuesday, July 13 at 4 p.m. in Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids after undergoing major surgery Friday. Altogether he had been a patient at Blodgett hospital for three weeks and at the Ionia Convalescent home for one week. He was born December 31, 1860 in Keene township where he resided on a farm until eight years ago at which time he moved to Saranac. Surviving him are a daughter, Lucille; two brothers, C. E. Ayes, and A. H. Ayers of North Baltimore, O.; a step-brother, Thomas Anderson of Lowell; and a step-sister, Mrs. Bertha Cribbs, of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, from the Morris funeral home in Saranac at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E. H. Humphrey officiating. Interment will be at Saranac cemetery. His bearers will be Fred Raymond, Albert Steinke and John and Gerald Adgate.
