She was born October 6, 1897 in Sebewa township, the daughter of Edwin and Hermina (Bulling) Leak. She attended Goddard and Lake Odessa schools, and was married to Arlow Aves on November 8, 1917, in Ionia. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1982. They lived in the Sebewa area all their life. She was a member of the Sebewa Baptist Church and the West Sebewa Community Club. Survivors include four daughters, Elaine Austin of Lake Odessa, Norma Beaver of Portland, Christine Towner of Portland and Marjorie Swiler of Lake Odessa; one sister, Naomi Gattner, of Lansing; two brothers, Maynard Leak of Lansing and Maurice Leak of Lake Odessa; nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. In addition to her husband, one brother, Zeno Leak, preceded her in death. Funeral services were April 15, at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, with her pastor, Dick Cross, officiating. Interment in Sebewa Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Avery, Richard Thorp, Riley Sandborn, Don Possehn, Norman Piercefield, and Brian Pinkston. Memorials have been established for the Sebewa Baptist Church and the American Cancer Society.
