The Ionia Standard, Friday, September 22, 1882

Homer, youngest son of Mark L. and Sarah Babcock, died at the home of his 
parents at Ovid on Sept. 15.  The remains were brought to this city for 
interment.  The funeral services took place at the residence of H. L. Babcock 
on West Washington street on Sunday afternoon and were largely attended by 
sympathizing friends.  Rev. D. Van Alstin preached a most appropriate sermon.  
The deceased was a very bright boy, and his unfortunate death is widely 
mourned.
