The Ionia Standard, Friday, July 10, 1885
In the recent death of Henry S. Babcock at his residence on West Washington 
street we are called to notice the passing away of another of the early 
settlers of Ionia county.  Mr. Babcock was born in Ontario County, New York, 
October 11th, 1821, and came to Michigan in November 1836.  He was twice 
married and leaves a wife faithful to him in life and a sincere mourner in his 
death.  Mr. Babcock was a firm believer in the truth of Christianity, was an 
honorable citizen, and leaves many friends to lament his loss.
