Babcock, aged 20 years. The above announcement tells of the sudden taking away of a most estimable young man, who has been a resident of Aberdeen for over a year. His sickness was of but short duration, and it was not until twenty-four hours before his death that his condition was considered dangerous. Will Babcock was born in Ionia, Michigan, July 31st, 1865, and in May 1883, removed with his parents to Dakota, and resided with them on their homestead north of Andover until March, 1885 when he came to this city and has since made it his home. He was quiet and unassuming in his manner, and a favorite among his associates. He belonged to the cornet band, and was reckoned as one of the most promising musicians in the north-west. Every citizen of Aberdeen has listened to his bass solos with pride, and it will be a difficult task to full his position. His parents were telegraphed of his illness, but did not arrive until the evening after his death. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, and were largely attended. The Aberdeen Rifles formed a military escort during the procession, and the cornet band and fire department attended in a body. After the services were concluded the remains were interred in the new cemetery and the last sad rites performed. His death has caused a genuine sorrow in the community, which is indicative of the high esteem in which he was held by our citizens. His parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
