          UNCLE JOHN BACHELDER BURIED LAST SUNDAY
                                         -----------
PIONEER RESIDENT OF THIE VICINITY CAME TO MICHIGAN IN 1868. 
              ONE OF MANY OHIOANS TO LOCATE HERE.
                                          ----------
   Uncle John Bachelor as he was familiarly called passed away at his home last
Friday and was buried Sunday 
afternoon and laid to rest in Lakeside cemetery beside his former wife.
   Mr. Bachelor came to this vicinity at an early date and was one of the sturdy
pioneers of early Michigan 
development.  He raised a family of substantial children who were a credit and a
blessing to the fathers' old 
age.
   The funeral was held at the Progressive Church in Campbell, attended by children,
grandchildren and many 
other friends and relatives to pay respect to this honored man of many years.

                                 OBITUARY
   Mr. John Bachelder was born in Richland county, O., September 16, 1836 and died
at his home in Freeport, 
Michigan, August 13, 1919, aged 82 years, eleven months and seven days.  He was
married to Elizabeth 
Henney in 1858, to this union was born seven children: four sons and three daughters
of whom one son and 
one daughter were called to the Spirit world.
   In 1905 his wife, Elizabeth Bachelder was called to her Heavenly home.  In 1097
he was married to Alice 
Peterman.  He leaves a wife, Mrs. Alice Bachelder, one sister Mrs. Abigal Hasler of
Hicksville, Ohio, and five 
children.  Ora Bachelder, Bert Bachelder, Mrs. Rena Groff, Warren Bachelder and Mrs.
Dessie Lepard and 
thirteen grandchildren.
   He moved to Barry county, Mich., in 1868 and lived in that vicinity until death
claimed its own.  He was one 
of the pioneers of the state and was loved by all who knew him.  He was a kind and
loving father and husband 
and his mind at the last went back to the log house and the children in the woods in
his early days.
