RAPIDS ----------- John E. Bachelder, 48, of 1126 Jefferson avenue, S.E., Grand Rapids, owner of a drug store at Division avenue and Hall street in that city died Friday at Pinecrest sanitarium. He had been ill six months with heart trouble. Mr. Bachelder was born at Lake Odessa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bachelder who formerly lived northeast of Lake Odessa. John entered the drug business at Morley in 1915 following his completion of the pharmaceutical course at Big Rapids. In 1920 he went to Grand Rapids and established a drug store at Madison Square, where he later built the Bachelder block. He waas a member of East Congregational church. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Yvonne Fisher and Miss Wanda Lou Bachelder; two sons, Jack and Robert; his parents, and a sister Mrs. Bertha Rice all of Grand Rapids. Funeral services were held at the East Congregational church in Grand Rapids, Monday afternoon, with the Rev. Charles W. Helsley, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery. Those from Lake Odessa who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gilliland, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lepard, C. F.
