Elizabeth, wife of Jno. Bachelder, succumbed to the will of the grim reaper Tuesday evening July 11, after an illness about one and one-half years during which not withstanding the kind assistance of friends and neighbors, she suffered mush, but affirm christian faith did much toward assisting her to bear the burden. The funeral was held at the Thornapple churchThursday July 13th. Rev. J.G.Winey assisted by Rev. S.M. Smith and Rev. Geo. Clum officiating, where a large audience of friends assembled to pay a parting tribute of an old and much respected friend and neighbor. The remains were then taken to Lakeside Cemetery for burial. Deceased was born in Ohio in 1835, and was united in marriage to John Bachelder in 1858, to which union were born seven children, five of whom with the grieving husband, survive her. She with her husband came to Michigan in 1868, settling a farm on the Barry county line, which they cleared and brought into the high state of cultivation, and here they resided until recently when they moved to their home near Thornapple church. Then united with the Progressive Brethren church in 1888 and remained a firm and devoted christian till the last. She was a faithful wife, a genial neighbor, and a kind mother, this neighbor, feels in part the loss which the bereaved relatives have to bear, and they have the sympathy of all in this hour of sorrow. After an illness of about a year and a half, Mrs.John Bachelder died Tuesday,July 11th. The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends here.
