Harold was born Nov. 11, 1944, in Flint, the son of Murl and Mildred Minier Badder. He was the youngest of 10 children, nine boys and one girl. Harold received the nickname Polly from his dad, who said he swam like a pollywog. From then on, for 65 years he was Polly to everyone. Seven of the Badder boys served their country proudly, including Polly who served in Vietnam. He was a quiet and simple man who was loved and will be remembered by many, many people. Polly was a block layer and was a factory worker, retiring at Brown Corp in Ionia. His son, Jim, and his family were with him a great deal during his stay in the hospital for the last month. He friend and stepson, Rick, and his family were there during the last two nights. Polly loved to fish with his special friend and stepson, Rick. Summer and winter you would find them somewhere fishing, laughing and telling stories. He also loved hunting and fishing with his grandson, Rickey. The three were very close. He loved playing euchre with Rose and John Snyder, Carmen and Bruce, Rick and Rickey and niece Murlene. Polly married Ada June Jones on Oct. 15, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Ada; four sons, James and Kim King of Ionia, Rick and Honnaya King, of Ithaca, David and Becky King of Manton, and Gary and Trixie King of Alma; daughter, Armanda Vida of Interlochen; 10 grandchildren; brothers and sisters Kenneth Badder of Ionia, Ellen O’Bryant of Ionia, Ray and Sue Badder of Belding; brother-in-law Bruce Jones; sister-in-law Carmen Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Polly was preceded by his parents; brothers Melvin, Loren, Dale, Daryl, Douglas and Lee; brother-in-law William O’Bryant; nephews Arnold Carter and Douglas Badder; and niece Judy Ott. There will be a Celebration of Life Get Together and Luncheon at the VFW Hall in Lyons from 1 to 6 p.m. May 1. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Cremation services were entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Belding.
