Dec. 7, 2019 BADDER Joel Phillip Badder, "Joe" age 56 of Ionia. MI passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019. He was born in Ionia on March 5, 1963, the son of Mason and Thelma Jean (Lowery) Badder. He married Valorie Jones on April 10, 1982 in Ionia. Joe turned his love of antiques into a lifelong, successful business. He enjoyed traditional country music. Some of his favorite artists were Johnny cash, Boxcar Willie and Hank Williams Jr. He was quite the prankster. He made up funny songs and nicknames for people. You knew he liked you if he made a nickname for you. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He believed in hard work and instilled that in his children and grandchildren. He was a big John Deer fan. He was a very positive person and very optimistic.He always saw the glass half full. He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Outside of his children, donating bone marrow to his sister Barb was one of his greatest privileges. He was a grill master. He loved to feed people. If you visited him, you never went away hungry. One of his favorite phrases was "I just want everyone to be happy". Above all, he loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Valorie Badder of Ionia; daughters Haylee Badder of Ionia, Christina Sandborn (Eric Thalison) of Fenwick; stepson Christopher Helmes (Maria) of Texas; mother Jean Badder of Ionia; grandchildren Jacob Cantu, Brendon Cantu, William Joseph Sandborn; brothers Bob (Marie) Badder, Larry Badder, Jeff (Gloria) Badder, Andy (Kendra) Badder; sisters Mary Badder, Barbara (Rick) Tressler, Brenda (Ken) McCallum and Connie (John) Wellman; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Carolyn Allen Hurt (daily coffee buddy); special friends Tom and Laurie McPherson. He was preceded in death by his father, Mason Badder and son Joseph Dennis Badder, "Joey". Cremation has taken place and there are no services at this time.
