George R.Badder, 83, died in St.Lawrence Hospital, Lansing about 8pm Saturday from crushing chest injuries, according to information given to the Ionia State Police by medical authorities. Listed in critical condition is Leona Badder, a passenger in her husband's car along with Kathleen Smith, also from Portland. State Police investigating the accident, reported six persons were injured in the collision when the two cars met head on near the intersection. Driving the second car was Jack W.Small, 32, Wyoming, while his parentsIvan and fay Small were passengersThey were not critically injured, but the driver was hospitalized. Both vehicles were removed by wreckers. State Police are continuing their investigation. Mr. Badder died Sunday at St.Lawrence hospital in Lansing.He had lived at route 1, Portland and was born in Ionia township,, December 2, 1885, the son of Mr.and Mrs. George W.Badder.He was an Orange Township farmer over 50 years. He is survived by his wife Leona who still remains int he hospital in critical condition. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, George Badder, known as Bud, Kalkaska; and Dwaine G.Badder of Fulton, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs.Lillie Hall of Phoenix, Ariz.;Mrs.Martha McClelland of Portland; and Mrs. Mamie Welch of Ionia; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1;30 p.m. at Neller Funeral Home in Portland. Rev. Maurice Christenson of Portland Baptist Church will officiate and interment will be at Balcom Cemetery.
