He came with his parents to Ionia County seventy years ago. They settled on the farm now owned by Louis Janes. Except for one year spent in Canada he has lived in this vicinity all these years and has seen many of his boyhood friends pass on before he died. He was always ready to help those in trouble and to do his part in the various community activities as long as his health would permit, and will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends. He leaves a widow, three sons, Walter, of Ionia township, Louis of Petoskey and Oscar of Grand Rapids, two brothers, Jacob of Lansing and Charles of Ionia and two sisters, Mrs. Allen Barton of Ionia township and Mrs. Harry Brooks of Ionia.
