Ethel Mae Badder, age 63, of Ionia, passed away Oct. 20, 2007 in Grand Rapids.

She was born Feb. 18, 1944 in St. Johns the daughter of Edward and Dorothy 
(Weber) Melvin. She was a 1962 graduate of Pewamo Westphalia High School. She 
attended SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ionia and was a past member of the 
Ionia Moose Lodge, Red Cross Volunteer, Humane Society supporter and a regular 
blood donor. She was a big Elvis fan.

Ethel is survived by her mother Dorothy Melvin of Ionia; children, Bryan and 
Mary Badder of Grand Rapids, Brenda Badder of Ionia, Rebecca Chambers of Texas 
and Bethany Helmes of Florida; brothers, Charles Melvin of South Carolina, 
Terrence Melvin of Lansing and Tim Melvin of Lake Orion; sister, Catherine and 
Gregory Kemp of Ionia; grandchildren, Justin, Lynell, Robert, Janelle and 
Alyssa.  She was preceded in death by her father Edward in 1967, infant son 
and brother Jeffery in 1968.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic 
Church in Ionia with Father Melvin Fox officiating. The family will receive 
friends and relatives Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with a 
scripture service at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may make memorial 
contributions to Ionia County Animal Shelter.
