She was taken to the Ionia County Memorial hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Coroner Dale Kauffman attributed death to suffocation. Monica was born at the Ionia County Memorial hospital March 17, 1952, only two months after her parents' arrival in Ionia as German refugees. The Baeger arrived in Ionia January 4, 1952. The father had been a prisoner in an American Army camp during World War II. He grew to learn more about America there and wanted to come here. They came to this country through a missionary organization and he works on the John and Leslie Stedman farms. Surviving her are the parents, a sister, Brigette, and two brothers, Vernor and Klaus. Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home. The Rev. Eric Cash, pastor of St. John Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.
