Altho he had not been well for several months, his illness was not considered serious until two weeks ago. Mr. Bailey was born in Northville, Washtenaw county, Michigan, November 26, 1868, and observed his 67th birthday last November. When he was 14 years old he came to the home of his brother, Dr. Charles Bailey, Tremaynes’ Corners, where he lived until 1898. His marriage to Miss Arzilla Hicking of Berlin Center, took place April 16 1898, and they came to South Ionia which has been their home for 38 years. Mr. Bailey followed his trade of carpenter and mechanic until a few years ago. For the past few years he has successfully operated a poultry farm. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Miss Fannie at home and Mrs. Percy Chamberlain, Ionia; a son, Charles, South Ionia, and two grandchildren. Rev. Matthew W. Duffey officiated at the funeral service held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church. Burial was in Balcom cemetery.
