Memorial services for Lester Bailey, former pastor of the Ionia First United 
Methodist Church, were held Sunday, Nov. 21, at Coldwater United Methodist 
Church.  Bailey died last Wednesday in Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, 
after a sudden illness.  He served as pastor of the Ionia First United 
Methodist Church from 1964 to 1970, and had retired in June 1982 after serving 
in the ministry for 42 years.  He also served churches in Cassopolis, Battle 
Creek-Urbandale, Grand Rapids, Charlotte, and Portage.

He is survived by his wife Helen; a son, Charles R., of Atlanta, Ga.; three 
daughters, Linnea J. Bailey of Atlanta, Gal; Mrs. David J. (Mercia) Foster of 
Charles City, Iowa; and Mrs. David L. (Celeste) Flood of Spring Lake, Mich.; 
and one granddaughter.  A Lester C. Bailey memorial was established in the care 
of the Gillespie Funeral Home, Coldwater.
