Bailey, 75, Stanton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at her home. She was born May 6, 1926, in Belding, the daughter of William H. and Frances Devault Sower. Laura was a member of the Belding Gardeneers, the Belding Art Club, a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Sheridan Post 5065, and was a former member of the Belding Historical Society and the Grand Valley Rock and Mineral Society. After retiring as an inspector for General Motors Corp., Grand Rapids, she obtained a beautician license and her real estate license. Laura was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was married to Jack Bailey Sept. 13, 1958, in Belding. He survives along with their children, Ila “Diane” Denman and special friend Larry Burns, Sheila Ann and Dan Christensen, all of Stanton, John and Mary Jo Bailey of Greenville; her grandchildren, Brian L. Gyger and special friend Teresa Smith, Greg Alexander and fiancée Kami Miller, Jon Tomlinson, Molly Hoogerhyde, Steve Hoogerhyde; one great-grandson, Kavin; and her brothers and sisters, Margeret Huyck, Roy and Marcella Sower, all of Belding, Sylvester and Vicki Sower of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sylvia Phenix; four brothers, Richard Sower, Dan Sower, Chester Sower, William Sower, and one grandson, Todd Alexander. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kendall Harger officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alvah N. Belding Library or Belding Historical Society.
