Bailey, 46, was found dead Saturday in his rural Lake Odessa home in Carleton township. Born August 24, 1923 in New York state, he was the son of Barton and Alice Brumm Bailey and had lived in Lake Odessa area most of his life. He was a graduate of Woodland high school in 1941. He was a paratrooper with the army during World War II and saw service in New Guinea and Philippines. Among his military awards were the Victory medal, American theater ribbon, Asiatic Pacific ATER, World War II battle stars, Bronze service arrowhead, World War II bronze battle star, three overseas service stars. He was employed at the Smith elevator in Lake Odessa. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Donald Townsend of Anna, Ohio, and Mrs. Brent Richards of Bloomington, Ill.; one brother, Richard of Plymouth. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 pm at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery, Lake Odessa.
