The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Thursday, November 11, 1937
Mrs. Sarah A. Bailey, 71, died at her home in South Ionia Thursday morning, 
November 11 at 3:45 o’clock after an illness of the past several months.  Mrs. 
Bailey was born in Berlin township November 11, 1866 the daughter of Mr. and 
Mrs. William Hicking.  She as married to Franklin Bailey, April 15, 1898 in 
Ionia township.  They made their home in Beulah until 1899 when they came back 
to Ionia.  Mr. Bailey died February 22, 1936.  

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Percy Chamberlain, Miss Fannie Bailey 
and Charles Bailey all of South Ionia, two grandchildren, Marion and Doris 
Bailey, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bradford of Ionia, and Mrs. George Aldrich 
of Berlin township.

Funeral services will be held at the home in South Ionia Saturday afternoon, 
November 13, at 2 o’clock with Rev. Frederic Dunbar, pastor of the Methodist 
church from which Mrs. Bailey was a member, officiating.  Interment will be at 
the Balcom cemetery
