Bailey, whose condition has been precarious for the past three moths, died at 9:30 this morning. Deceased was born in Twinsburg, Ohio, December 25, 1845. He came with his parents to Ionia about 1854. His entire business experience has been in hotels, first with his father, later as proprietor of a hotel at Stanton for eight years, and for the last eighteen years associate or sole proprietor of the Bailey house in this city, from which he retired about six months ago. His was a warm-hearted nature, and he stood high in the public esteem, filling with credit various public positions, including nine years as alderman, which office he held at time of his death, four years as director of the Ionia District Fair association, and eight years as trustee of the K of P lodge. He leaves an insurance to his family of $7,600, of which $2,000 is in the R.O.T.M., $3,000 in the Royal Ar…(illegible)…, and $2,000 in the Knights of Pythias. All these orders will testify their respect by attending the funeral services as organizations. He leaves, besides the wife and one daughter, two brothers, Frank of Port Huron (who is now very low), and Ed, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Keeler, of Saginaw. The funeral will be attended from the M. E. church, of which deceased was a member, at 2 p.m. on Sunday. He will be buried beside his good friend, Russell Ward, in Highland Park cemetery, at his own request.
