          LEONA BAIRD
   Loving Cowboys fan Leona Baird left us on Super Bowl Sunday surrounded by family
and friends.  Lee was 68 years young and will be missed by many.  Born in Florida, 
Lee was raised in the Military life.  She traveled across the world with both her 
father and husband during their military service and has called many places home, 
but the one she truly loved was her home in Muir and the friendships she made
with those in her community.
   She began her dispatching career with Florida based Kauff's Towing, which gave
her the experience to join the Ionia County Sheriff's Department in the late 70s 
as a Deputy Matron.  After retiring from the Sheriff's Department, she began a new 
career in optics and became a licensed optician until her husband's stroke made her 
retire again to take care of her loved one.
   She returned to Florida for 7 years to be with her father, James Mustaine, as his
life was ending, then returned to her family home in Muir for the remaining years of 
her wonderful life. Though she struggled with amputation, kidney failure, diabetes 
and heart disease, she was a strong woman until the very end. Demanding the ambulance 
drivers get her home before kickoff...and they did.
   She was a fantastic Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and
friend.  Leona ia survived by her husband Marvin Baird, originally from Indiana, 
Daughter Korina Haga (Husband Scott) from Muir, Son Marvin Baird II (Wife Michelle 
Baird) from Tennessee, sisters Crystal and Winona Mustaine from Florida, and 
several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will truly be missed by all.
   Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lake Funeral
Home in Ionia.  Visitation will be Friday 4-7 p.m.. In Lieu of flowers memorial 
contributions may be made to VFW in Belding.  Online condolences may be made at
