IONIA- Russell V. Baird, 66, W. David Highway, Ionia, died at home early Sunday.

He was born in Ionia County Oct. 14, 1916, the son of Roy and Lida Young Baird.

He attended Ionia High School and served with the United States Army in the 
Persian Gulf Command during World War II.

He married Thelma Rasmussen in Ionia April 16, 1945 and they lived in the Ionia 
area.

He worked for Fisher Body in Lansing for 30 years before retiring in 1976. He 
later worked for Michigan Bumper in Grand Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma; one son, Russell Jr., two grandsons, Corey 
and Derek; one sister, Virginia Maynard of Ionia; and his mother-in-law, Mary 
Rasmussen. 

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, 
with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of the Shiloh Community Church officiating. 

Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home today from 
2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Michigan Heart Association.
