He was born on Nov. 20, 1942 in Gauston, South Carolina to Thomas and Lucile Bairefoot. Paul married the love of his life, Eloise "Ellie" Shattuck on Aug. 17, 1987 in Ionia. Paul Bariefoot was an Army veteran, and served as a prison guard for 23 years. During that time, he took great pride in serving the state and his country and in helping people turn their lives around. Paul Bairefoot was witty, tough and stubborn. A firm believer that nothing comes to those who don't work for it, he did everything he could to teach his family the importance of having a strong sense of humility and a giving heart. Paul loved NASCAR racing, discussing politics and telling jokes. But most of all, he loved being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Eloise Bairefoot; children, Kimberly Bairefoot Courtney (Ralph), Sean Bairefoot, Tonya Tate-Clayton (Kevin), Tabatha "TJ" Tate-Barclay (Craig) and Todd Meuir; grandchildren, Leah Courtney, Tyler Tate, Ryan Courtney, Hadlie Clayton, Tori Cain (Ryan) Westley Bairefoot, Brianna Courtney and Kaylynn Bairefoot; great-grandchildren, Kylie Town, Braylee Clayton, Carson Favreau, Logan Tate, Michael Bairefoot, Preston Tate and Aubree Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janie Hutto; brothers, Eagle Bairefoot, Eddie Bairefoot and Billy Goodwin; daughter, Melissa Bairefoot Moyer; and grandchild, Kevin Clayton II.
