Bakeman, 75, died Monday morning at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mrs. Bakeman had been in poor health for the past month. Mrs. Bakeman was born Mary Jane Roberts in Bothwell, Canada on August 24, 1874. She had been a resident of Belding for 55 years, coming there from Stanwood. She was a member of the Central Methodist church, and the women’s organizations of the church. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary and was a Gold Star mother. She belonged to Rebekah lodge also. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Clark of Belding and Mrs. Winnie VanCamp of Ionia; three sons, Harry of Rockford, Ill, Glenn and Ed of Belding; one sister, Mrs. Anna Wheeler of Cedar Springs; one brother, Ray Roberts of Tungsten, Nevada, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Central Methodist church with the Rev. Lester Clough officiating. The body will repose at the Fales-Huffman funeral home until the time of the service. Interment will be in River Ridge cemetery.
