(Clark) Baker, age 75, of Saranac, passed away early Monday morning, Oct. 19, at home under the loving care of her family and Ionia Area Hospice. Ruth was born on March 21, 1934 in Alamo Township, Mich. to Charles M. and Minnie P. (Petersen) Clark, and was educated at Chadwick Country School and Belding Area Schools. She then moved to Florida where she lived for nearly 17 years while raising her family. Following her return to Michigan in the early 1970s she met and married Dale K. Baker and he survives. The couple exchanged vows in Belding on Aug. 31, 1972, and enjoyed 37 years of marriage. While her focus on her family and home was her main priority, she did work for a time at two employers, Lack’s Industries in Saranac and Northern Village Furniture in Belding. She was a member of the Portland Seventh Day Adventist Church and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching all forms of nature as it passed by the window of her home in the country near Saranac. Ruth will be remembered by her dear family including her husband, Dale; children Ruth H. (Michael) Ehle of Sidney, Scott (Barb) Brown of Gladstone, Charlie (Teresa) Brown of Belding, Joyce E. (Joe) McClintock of Ionia, Richard D. Baker of Grand Rapids, Robert D. (Vicki) Baker of Toma, Wisc., Janice E. Pratt of Seattle, Wash. and Randy D. (Debbie) Baker of Nashville; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred (Jean Lay) Clark of Belding and James (Evelyn) Clark of Weidman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Don Flory and two siblings, Charles Clark and Leonard Clark. Services will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Ionia Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Monte Landis officiating. The family will greet visitors beginning at 10 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the afternoon at Orleans Cemetery. Those wishing to express their sympathy are welcomed to consider a donation in Ruth’s memory to Ionia Area Hospice or the Hospice organization of their choosing.
