Baker, 82, lifelong resident of the Lake Odessa and Clarksville area died unexpectedly Sunday morning at 7 o’clock at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. Lee, of 1225 Woodbine street, Lansing, where he had lived for the past month. Ingham county coroner, Harry Leadley, said death was due to a heart ailment. Mr. Barker was born September 24, 1873 in Clarksville, the son of John and Mary Barker. He retired from his farm southwest of Lake Odessa in 1920. He was a member of the Lake Odessa I.O.O.F. and a life member of the F. and A.M. lodge and was also a Spanish war veteran. Surviving besides his daughter, Celeste, are one brother, George Barker of Lake Odessa, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at Pickens funeral chapel where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock under the auspices of the Masonic lodge. Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery with the Rev. Burton Mick of the Clarksville Wesleyan Methodist church officiating.
