Baker died very suddenly at Grand Rapids, at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, having been sick only about ten hours. A postmortem examination showed that death was caused by congestion of the heart and lungs. He had been employed there in the paint department of the G.R. & I .R.R. shops. The remains were brought home by his son, Frank, on the 8:40 train Saturday evening. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Peter R. Baker was born at Paris, France, in 1851, being 48 years old at time of death. His home had been in Ionia 28 years. He leaves a wife and two children – Frank and Minnie. Out-of-town relatives are J.G. Lehman, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lehman, Mrs. Geo. Lehman, Sr., and Mrs. Chas. B.
