Funeral To Be Held Friday Afternoon. Was Born In Portland Township And Had Spent Entire Lifetime In This Vicinity. Streptococcus poisoning claimed the life of Will H. Balderson Tuesday noon, his death coming as a great shock to his many Portland friends, few of whom knew of his serious illness. Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church, Friday afternoon at two o’clock, in charge of Rev. J. H. Stewart and under the auspices of the Masonic lodge. Burial will be made in the Portland cemetery. Mr. Balderson became ill from throat disorder about two weeks ago and had been confined to his bed since Wednesday of last week. Last winter he suffered a severe attack of the flu which left him in a weakened condition and unable to withstand the ravages of the dreaded throat infection. Born on the old Balderson homestead, one and one-half miles east of the farm where his death occurred, on October 1, 1879, Mr. Balderson had spent his entire lifetime in Portland township with the exception of one year in Danby where he resided on the place now owned and occupied by Tony Goodman. Since the death of his mother in 1905, he, with his sister, Miss Sarah Balderson had resided on their farm north of town. He was a member of the Masonic order, O.E.S., Portland Grange and Baptist church, having for the past two years served as one of the trustees of the latter. Surviving are three brothers and two sisters. They are H. K. and John C. Balderson, of Portland; Edward, of Eagle; Mrs. Mary L. Barnes, of Muskegon, and Miss Sarah Balderson, who for years had resided with her brother keeping house for him.
