Deceased was born in Herkimer county, New York, November 2, 1803; was married to Miss Sarah Ann Small in 1831, and removed to this locality in 1844, coming by the way of Jackson, and down Grand river from that point by boat. In 1861 Mr. Baldie went to California, where he remained until 1866, when he returned to his home and family in this city, where he has since lived, a highly respected and useful citizen. The deceased was the first of a family of six children, three older and two younger than himself; to pass away. His death was preceded by that of his wife some five years since. He leaves six children, several grand children and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss.
