June was born November 10, 1926 to Elmer and Elizabeth McClow. She graduated from Ionia High School in 1944. In 1947 she married C. Anthony “Tony” Balice who preceded her in death December 16, 1992. She is survived by six children Toni Ann Buys, Janet L. Marion, Karen E. Gregory, Margaret (Paul) DePover, Suzanne (Ron) Burrows and Daniel A. (Janet) Balice. She leaves twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Michael A. (Sarah ) Marion, Jeffrey Marion, Ryan (Amy) Gregory, Nick Gregory, Sarah, Kirsten and Joseph Buys, Tim Balice, John and Leigh Balice, Dan and Marc Burrows Elizabeth and Hannah Marion. One brother Elton. She is also survived by several nieces and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother William. June's greatest claim to fame was her role as wife, mother, and grandmother accomplished several personal goals along the way. She was a "room mother" at SS Peter & Paul School for over 20 years, treasurer of the Weblos and Cub Scouts for three years and a Girl Scout leader for 4 years. She has been a member of the SS. Rosary Society since 1947 and a member of the K of C Auxiliary. June was Technician for Ionia County for 16 years and a member of the Hall-Fowler Library Board from 1979 to 1995. From 1948 to 1964 June and Tony owned and operated the Ionia News Agency with her brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Jennie Nolan. She fulfilled her role as First Lady of Ionia while Tony served as Mayor for 14 years. June was an accomplished golfer and bowler and served on several committees for those associations. She was also an artist and musician and played the violin. She had a life long love of the arts. Listening to music, watching movies (especially music comedies) and reading a good mystery gave her endless hours of enjoyment. Her competitiveness was ever present when she challenged you to a game of Scrabble, Upwards, UNO, or bridge. Her contagious laughter, her strength and her love will be greatly missed but carried on by all who loved her. Visitation will beheld at the Lake Funeral Home, 3521. S. State Rd, Ionia, on Wednesday 5:30-7:30 P.M. and 2-4 and 7-8:30 P.M. Thursday with Rosary being recited at 8:00 P.M. Services will be held at SS. Peter & Paul Church, Ionia, Michigan on Friday, 12:00 P.M. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Ionia County Memorial Hospital or the Hall-Fowler Memorial Library in her memory.
