Ball, 77, died at 10:30 Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bird Woodard, 711 Lafayette street. Funeral services will be held from the home of a son, Lyle, 616 East Lincoln avenue, Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock, Rev. C. J. Clemons will officiate. Following the services the body will be taken to Alma for burial in the Riverside cemetery. Mr. Ball was born in Sheboygan, Wis., and at the age of 12, came to Ashley with his parents, who took up a piece of land for a homestead. Later he went west and while there married. Nearly 35 years ago he and his wife decided to return to Michigan with their son. They outfitted a covered wagon and drove back to Ashley, where they reared their family. Several years ago they moved to South Ionia but the last few months they had lived with their son and daughter in Ionia. He had flu several weeks ago, complications following. Besides the two children in Ionia, he leaves two sons, Cecil in Nebraska and Vane in Lansing, and a daughter, Mrs. E. F. Bowman, of Alma.
