J. M. Bancroft, officiating. Burial was made in Portland cemetery. Mr. Ball had been in poor health of late and though he had been up and around his home, in the village, he went out to his daughters, Mrs. Stanley Morse, who lives east of the Knox school for a short stay where his death came last Friday noon. He had been working in the yard and had come to the house complaining of feeling dizzy. After reaching the house he collapsed and died in a few moments. Mr. Ball came to Portland from Lake Odessa 13 years ago and had been working in the cooper shop up until about two years ago. Since that time he had been working on the Fred Knox farm when he felt able. He was born in Canada 67 years ago, and married Miss Elizabeth Goodsell, at Lowell, who survives him. The children are Mrs. Stanley Morse and Miss Nettie Ball, Portland; Mrs. Floyd B. Aldrich, Lansing.
