Ball, 75, of 1014 Wellington court, Greenville, died Saturday afternoon at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids. Born at Ashley, December 1, 1897, he was the son of Lewis and Sabina Ball. He was married June 24, 1922, at Alma to Naomi Blackford and she survives. He was a veteran of World War I, member of St. Charles Catholic church of Greenville and the Knights of Columbus of Ionia. He was a retired employee of the former A. O. Smith Corp. of Ionia. He made his home in Ionia 40 years before going to Crystal River, Fla., in 1968. In 1973 he moved to Greenville. Besides the wife he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Hopkins of Stanton, Mrs. Joanne Miller of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Virginia Schooley of Greenville; son, Charles Ball of Lansing; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Valerie Woodard of Ionia, Mrs. Laurel Bowman of Rochester, New York; brother, Cecil Ball of Denver, Colo. Funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic church in Greenville. Fr. Dennis Nash will officiate and interment will be at Riverside cemetery at Alma. Rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Brown-Teman funeral home in Greenville.
