Ionia Daily Sentinel, 19 Jun 1947

Masonic rites for Calvin Balzell, North Dexter street barber who died at his
home Monday morning, were carried out under the auspices of F.& A.M. 36 with
Bert Fox acting master at Boynton’s funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2
o’clock.  The Rev. Dwight M. Kitch delivered the sermon.  Interment was in West
Pine cemetery in Coral.  Floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Hazel Smith
and Mrs. Bruce O’Connell.

Honorable bearers were Roy Smith, Robert Hartman, Glenn Harris, James Lower,
Price Haddock and Andrew Geiser.  Active bearers were Ernest Youngs, Hugh
Markell, A. W. Gott, Warden Joel R. Moore, Harris Jackson and Harry Snellgrove.

Persons attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Chaput
and Lawrence Balzell of Kenosha, Wis., Ammon Balzell of Marquette, Iowa; Charles
Boomer of Kansas City, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Don Gage and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Markell of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Max Gilbert of Big Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Boomer of Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Harris, Sr., of Pontiac; Mr. and Mrs.
Manuel Cusack of Hubbardston; Mr. and Mrs. Robert ?? of Morely; and Mr. and Mrs.
Rasmussen Christiansen, Olin Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Christiansen, Mr. and
Mrs. Carroll Almy, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gage, Norma Jean Gage, Shirley Gage, Mr.
and Mrs. Calvin Gage, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stout, Ronald Stout, Mr. and Mrs.
Philo Lee, Mr. and Mrs. James Boomer, Orin Boomer, Bruce Boomer, Mr. and Mrs. R.
K. Boomer, Dick Boomer, Carol Boomer, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Boomer, all of Coral.
