Jackie “Jack” Baney, 70, of Carson City died Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Carson 
City Hospital.  He was born September 24, 1932 in New Castle, Indiana, the son 
of the Rev. James and Lydia Brooks Baney.

Jack graduated from Carson City High School in 1956.  He married Gloria Mae 
Shinabarger on June 12, 1953 in Crystal.  Jack was a member of Mount Hope 
United Brethren Church in Carson City.  Jack worked as a correction officer for 
Riverside Correctional Facility in Ionia for many years, retiring in 1989.  He 
enjoyed hunting, camping and the outdoors.  Jack liked to play cards and loved 
socializing.

He was preceded in death by his parents wife, Gloria Baney; son Daniel Baney; 
sister Esterlene Baney, and brother Phillip Baney.

He is survived by three sons, Darrell Baney and Fiancee Joan Oglesby, of 
Stanton, Darwin Baney of Eustis, Florida, Darrin Baney of Carson city; daughter 
and son-in-law, Dana and Richard Gonzales of Carson City; two granddaughters, 
Emma Baney of Carson City, Ashely Baney of Ocala, Florida; two great-grandsons, 
Tyler Baney, Trever Schneider; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dinah and Don 
McCracken of Carson City, Marilyn and Sam Andrews of Perrington; and brother 
and sister-in-law, Mike and Jayne Baney of Ithaca.

A memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope United Brethren Church, 
Carson City, with Pastor Roger Burk officiating.  Interment is in Carson City 
Cemetery.  Visitation is from noon until the time of service Saturday.

Memorial may be made to Carson City Hospital.  Arrangements are by Lux and 
Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City.
