He was assistant superintendent of the composing room for Detroit News and had been semi-retired since 1948 following a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been with the fir 28 years and formerly was employed at the Sentinel in Ionia. He was born October 28, 1901, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Banhagel. Surviving are his wife, Eva; two brothers, Raymond Banhagel of Detroit, and George of Grand Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Wilfred Begin of Detroit. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul church Tuesday at 9 am with the Rev. Labre Begin, O.F., of Wayne, nephew of Mr. Banhagel, singing the mass. Interment will be at M.t Olivet cemetery Rosary will be recited at Boynton funeral home at 7:30 Monday evening.
