The Ionia Sentinel, Thursday, February 15, 1900
Ionia, Feb. 12.  Mrs. Emma Barborn, died at her home in Orange, on Friday, 
Feb. 9, aged 94 years.  The funeral was conducted at the house by Rev. Thos 
Young on Sunday afternoon.

Another Article:

The funeral services for Mrs. Emma Barber, of Orange, were held Sunday.  
Deceased was 94 years of age.  Interment in Tuttle cemetery.

A Third Article:

The will of Mrs. Emma Barber in on file in probate office.  It was drawn by 
Judge Smith, July 14, 1891, when testator was 89 years old.  She leaves the 
farm in Orange—e. ½ n.w. ¼ sec. 15—to her adopted son, Layfayette Johnson, 
known as Layfayette Barber, for his sole benefit during his life.  Should he 
leave a child or children, on his death it goes to them.  She also gives him 
absolutely all the live stock and farming utensils on the place, all the 
household furniture except two beds, and $200 in cash for a working capital.

She leaves to her two daughters, each a bed from the household goods.  To her 
sons, Edwin H. Wilson and William G. Wilson, she leaves to each, one dollar 
and nothing more.  She directs the executor to pay all debts and funeral 
expenses, and not to exceed $100 for a monument at her grave.  The remainder 
of property is to be divided between the two daughters—two thirds to Mary Ann 
Long and one-third to Emma Rowe. In case Layfayette dies without issue, then 
the farm is to become part of the estate for division between the two 
daughters, or their children.  Glen S. Wright is named as executor.
