Barber, 57, Boston township clerk, died at her home on Church street in Saranac Friday morning, March 24, at 4:30 o’clock following an illness of intestinal flu and heart trouble. She had been ill several days. She was the wife of the last E. D. Barber who died a year ago last January. She had held the office as township treasurer of Boston township two years; deputy treasurer two years; deputy township clerk two years, and township clerk one year. At the time of her death she was the township clerk and was a candidate for re-election. Besides holding public office she was prominent in the social activities of Saranac, being a member of the Saranac Woman’s club and of the Thursday Bridge club. Mrs. Barber is survived by a step-mother, Mrs. Eliza Stark of Saranac; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Sandborn, at home, and Mrs. Pauline Post of Saranac; three grandchildren and a step-brother, Elmer Finch of Saranac. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Saranac Methodist church with Rev. Frank Loomis and Rev. John Gehring officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Saranac cemetery.
