August 5, 2025 Excerpts from Ionia Obituary STEVEN GLENN BARBER Died Saturday, August 2, 2025-age 27. Born December 5, 1997 in Ionia, MI son of Melissa Barber & the late Steven Michael Barber. Steven lived a life of full of laughter, loyalty, love & lasting void in the heats of all who knew & loved him. Preceded in death by his father Steven Michael Barber; brother Steven Michael Barber Jr.;grandparents, Rose & James Kerr & Steven Barber; & uncles, James Kerr, Michael Kerr & Allen Kerr. Survived by a large family, including his aunts;Mary (Michael)Owen, Libby(Rich) Kosnik, Corena (Rob) Dillion, Casey (Domingo) & Amy Barber, uncle, Steve Kerr; many cousins & great-cousins, & his two beloved dogs,Loki & Aria., Steven began his adult career at Sunny Crest Youth Ranch, a home for abused & neglected children in Sunfield, MI.,where hr mentored young boys & men. Later Steven went on to work for the Michigan Department of work friends who quickly became like family. Steven had an old soul & a deep love for music of all kinds, especially his idol, Johnny Cash. He was widely knows for his outrageous outfits, bold sense of style & quick wit. He loved everything about football,A Detroit Lion fan, & Univ. of Michigan. He enjoyed Karoke & dancing where his best friend group-"Barber & the Boys"- performed together. He loved playing pool, golfing, traveling, beach days, concerts & corn hole tournaments. Steven was a Mama's boy to the end. Protected his mother & siblings, Makenzie & Carson. Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Friday, August 8 at the Lake funeral Home in Ionia with Cherie Clark officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 AM -1 PM and 6 PM-8 PM. A luncheon will follow at the Ionia Moose Lodge. Steven's legacy lives on through the laughter he inspired, the friendships he nurtured, & the love he gave so freely.
