Barbour was born in Dansbury, Connecticut, January 3, 1849 and passed from this life November 3, 1930 at his home in Matherton, Mich. His age was 81 years and 9 months. In early life he followed the hatter’s trade and for about 40 years has lived in Ionia county, where he has owned three different farms. In 1871 he was married to Mary Elizabeth Worthy, who preceded him in death March 6, 1930. To this union were born seven children, six of whom are living. Those living are: Clarence Barbour, Roy and Ray of Detroit, Glenn of Chelsea, Maurice of Matherton and Mrs. Bessie Cook Grand Rapids. There are four grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the home in Matherton, Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Floyd N. Drake of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the East Plains cemetery.
