THE IONIA SENTINEL, MICH.; THURSDAY, DEC. 16, 1886: "Marcus H. Barbour of
Saranac, who died recently in Chicago, was 28 years, 7 months and 6 days old. In
speaking of his death the Saranac Local says: "His Mother was with him during
the most of his sickness, and assures us that his death was peaceful and
comparatively happy. He died trusting in God, and regretting that he now had no
time to work for Jesus. He sent messages to many of his friends and the band
boys, urging them to prepare for the last great change."
