W.E. Doty officiating. Quite a large number of old friends and neighbors were present to pay their last respects to the deceased. Burial was made in the old Belding cemetery. The deceased was born in Shropshire, England August 6, 1850 and came to America in 1871. He was married to Emma Evans on the third day of July, 1874 at Kiddville by Rev. William Howard Barclay, a Congregational minister. Mrs. Barclay died when their only daughter, now Mrs. Newell H. Russell, was six years old. He leaves besides his daughter, one grandson, three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Barclay was a former resident of this city and was for a number of years janitor at the high school building; later he went to Portland and was employed in the hotel there until his health failed; when he went to Covington, Kentucky to reside with his daughter, Mrs. Newell Russell. Recently he returned to Portland to see his old physician and from there was sent to Ann Arbor, where he passed away.
