September 11, 2021 Lawrence William Barcroft Lawrence William Barcroft "Bill"of Hasting's, age 79, left this earthly home September 5, 2021. He was born to Lawrence E and Louise (Pierce) Barcroft on June 25, 1942, in Hasting's. Bill was the oldest of five children. He attended school in Freeport and graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1960. He then earned a BS in Dairy nutrition from Michigan State University. He devoted his heart and soul to dairy farming on the family farm near Freeport. He later retired from Hasting's Schools. Music was another passion for Bill. For 20 years, Bill called and taught square dancing. He and Lori on guitar and fiddle, respectively, performed as Brushridge. They enjoyed many hours of jamming in Michigan and Florida, his winter home. Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Lori Barcroft; children, Robert Barcroft and Christine (Bob) Yax; stepson, Andrew Conklin, and selected daughter, Tena Haner-Sawdy and her family. He is survived by brother, John (Anita) Barcroft; sister, Amy (Duane) Campbell, and brothers Andy Barcroft and Lloyd (Jean) Barcroft also, step-siblings, Dennis Wolman and Janet Hemminger, along with all the siblings' children and grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Marguerite Barcroft and sister-in-law, Bonnie (Andy) Barcroft. The family thanks Thornapple manor for their care and compassion during Bill's illness. According to Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a Farewell Celebration to honor his memory on September 25, 2021, noon, at Cunningham Acres, 4980 W. Tupper Lake road, Lake Odessa, MI. Duane Campbell, Bill's childhood friend and brother-in-law, will share memories and stories from Bill's life. A lunch will be provided, followed by an informal circle jam/conversation time. Masks encouraged.
