In early life she attended the seminary at Banbridge, Ohio, kept by Rev. Holmes of the Disciple church. Attending this school at this time was James A. Garfield, who afterwards attained so great religious and political fame; and also the young lady, whom her friends familiarly called Lucretia, who afterwards became Mr. Garfield’s wife. Miss Squire was warm friends with these young people. She afterward taught for some years in the public schools of Ohio. In 1850 she was united in marriage to Cyrus Bartlett. Three children were born to them, two sons and one daughter, all of whom survive her. In 1895 her husband died and in 1896 Mrs. Bartlett came to Lyons, Mich., to reside with her sister, Mrs. J.S. Preston, and made her home with her until death. Soon after coming to Lyons, Mrs. Bartlett united with the Seventh-Day Adventist church of this place and remained a faithful member until her death. Seven years ago Mrs. Bartlett became an invalid and five years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, affecting the head. Since that time she has been a great sufferer and before her death became helpless. Funeral services were conducted at the home of her sister, Mrs. J.S. Preston, Wednesday, Nov. 12, by Elder L.T. Nicola of Grand Rapids. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/b/barelett14618nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
