Barker, Greenville, following an operation in the Greenville hospital that morning for goiter. Mr. Barker had been in poor health for the past year but only recently was it decided the operative work was necessary. Ernest R. Barker, 53, was born at Alba, coming to Belding with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Barker, when a lad of 6 years. He attended school here and at an early age began working for Belding-Hall Co. in the tin shop under his brother, Owen Barker. He was married in 1902 to Bertha Porter, sister of Wess Porter, of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Barker were parents to one daughter, Fearnley, now Mrs. Gordon Rettinger, of Greenville, who with the mother is left to mourn her father’s death. The Barkers moved to Greenville in 1910. Mr. Barker was one of the first men to be employed by the Gibson Refrigerator Co., having worked for them for the past twenty-four years. His last position being that of experimental engineer and overseer in the electrical department. Funeral services were held from the Brown funeral home in Greenville Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. The Masonic lodge had charge of the services, the deceased being a Master Mason. Burial was in the family lot in Otisco cemetery. Surviving besides the immediate family are two brother, Owen and Will, of this city, also two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Steele Brown and Mrs. Arthur Coles, both of this city.
