In 1875 she was married to William Barker and to them were born two sons, Fred and Donald, both now deceased. About 50 years ago the family came to Michigan and settled on a farm near Collins, Ionia county. They came to Hubbardston about 15 years ago. Mrs. Barker was left a widow in 1926 and since that time has had the care of her two orphaned grandsons, William and Robert Barker. She has one sister living, Mrs. Ada Kelso, of Los Angeles, California. She was a loyal and consistent Christian and a member of the Hubbardston Methodist church. Bereft of her husbands and sons, it was her lot to bear alone the heavy cares of both property and family, even to the last. The words of the Master seem fitting when applied to her: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” After a brief illness, under the weight of years and cares, her sweet spirit slipped away May 3, 1935, to be with God, who gave it, her age being 84 years, 5 months and 17 days. The funeral service was held at the home in Hubbardston Sunday afternoon, with the pastor, Floyd N. Drake, officiating. The burial was in the Keefer cemetery south of Lyons.
